Worst Worry is the one-woman witch punk project from Lisa Lynn Wallace (aka Janie Too Bad of Black Time and Sexaphone).
Lisa started Worst Worry after moving from London to Colorado in 2022, and feeling disconnected from her twenty-year music collaborators in Black Time and Virvon Varvon. With no real intent to write and record again, she started taking poetry classes at Naropa with Ariana Reines and Anne Waldman. But instead of writing poems she started to sing cryptic chants into her phone, picked up a Korg CR-4 for $100 on Facebook Marketplace, and taught herself drums and guitar. What started as a folk record ended up closer to Kleenex or Nico. There are vague shades of Black Time but more feminine, as if directed by Agnes Varda. Black Time's Lemmy Caution offered "witch punk" as the best description of her debut LP Worst Worry.
This limited-to-25 lathe picture disc release features her two latest transmissions from the haunted basement: “Piece of My Art” and “Nice Gone.” The first track is a danceable ESG/Belinda Carslile-inspired heartbreaker about making art in a void. The second track is a perimenopause anthem about getting good-bad-not-evil in old age via Beat Happening.
Two new songs “fit for the coven.”
